Functional vs. Allopathic Medicine

Dr. Emily Mallon explains the differences between allopathic medicine and functional medicine and the ability of the latter practice to pick up subclinical conditions when nothing shows up on routine medical tests. A functional medicine doctor would have many of your hormones tested to get to the root cause of why you are not feeling well when medical tests show that you are in the normal range. However, the range used by the functional doctor is much narrower. There are many possible places where things can go wrong from your thyroid to your adrenals to the brain, Dr. Mallon explains.
